Temperament

Boston Terriers are friendly, gentle and entertaining. They're usually good with children, strangers and other pets, and they adore their families.

Exercise and energy

Moderate: 30–60 minutes a day of walks and play. Like other short-muzzled breeds, they overheat quickly.

Grooming

Minimal. Weekly brushing and regular nail trims. Wipe their prominent eyes if needed.

Training

Bright and eager to please — a good choice for novice trainers.

Health

Watch for breathing problems (they're brachycephalic, though usually less severe than Bulldogs), eye injuries and ulcers, cataracts, deafness, kneecap problems and heat sensitivity.
